Dear Colleagues, I am pleased to inform you that the Scout Association of Japan (SAJ) has decided to bid to host the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in 2015 in Japan, and to encourage Scouts and leaders all over the world to join it. In 1971, the SAJ hosted the 13th World Jamboree, which was marked by the originality of the programmes, the great beauty of the location and an unexpected typhoon, as well as the 1st World Scout Youth Forum at Asagiri Heights in Shizuoka. The 23rd World Scout Conference was held in Tokyo following the Jamboree. Since then the SAJ has held its National Jamboree every 4 years and hosted the Asia-Pacific Regional Jamboree. For the World Scout Jamboree, we intend to make full use of the know-how we have accumulated through this long and varied experience. The candidate venue in Japan will be decided by the end of March 2007, and the final decision on the host country of the 23WSJ will be made at the 38th World Scout Conference in Jeju Island, Korea in July, 2008. We seek your support and earnestly hope that your delegates to the conference will favor us with their vote. Thank you very much for your attention to this matter, and we are looking forward to welcoming you to Japan in 2015. Yours sincerely, |
